Alone in Paris
Being alone in a big city is something rare, but what would happen if you could visit a totally empty version of Paris ?
This personal project was born after i spent too much time in a crowded subway ... what if everyone was gone, what if i had Paris for myself ... what if ... and why not ?
We all heard the phrase "Sometimes, only one person is missing, and the whole world seems depopulated" ... so i wanted to show exactly what it feels like in this video.
For the curious this video was shot during week days, around 2PM and nothing was shot early in the morning.
It took me almost 2 month erasing every one in Paris and countless houres in front of my screen.

Shooting a Video with a 1880 Lens
I love Lenses .... i mean i am obsessed with them, but i also like weird stuff, so naturally i mixed the two and wanted to experiment. Why just focusing on the ultra expensive electronic lenses when you can do incredible things with just old glass ...
the glass is the key to image beauty, not the internal motors.
I am happy to announce the launch of a new web-serie about lens test " The Weird Lens Challenge "... but not any kind of lens, we will focus only on the weird ones , the old, the crazy ones that you can mount on a mirrorless camera.
For this episode we will teste a 1880 large format camera lens, one of the first lens with internal iris
After mounting it with some cardboard pieces to keep it tightly blocked in a m42 macro tube, and then screw it on different macro m42 tubes and to a m42 helicoidal ring that was screwed to a M42 to Nex Adaptor ring then to the Sony A7II , the lens was able to focus.
The Lens is incredibly sharp for a 136 years old simple metallic lens, from my test it's even sharper than most of my modern canon lenses, the results are amazing ... but it also gives some strange lens flares and light leaks that are pretty dreamy ( some would say it's horrible )
Check the video for the results.
So does it takes good photos too ?
Here are some exemples of what the lens mounting is giving for photos.

SOOOOO sharp ...
Pretty clean for a portrait lens

How to get Bokeh Madness on Video
Previously on the " The Weird Lens Challenge " we tested a 1910 lens on a Mirrorless camera.
I am happy to announce the launch of a new web-serie about lens test " The Weird Lens Challenge "... but not any kind of lens, we will focus only on the weird ones , the old, the crazy ones that you can mount on a mirrorless camera.
For this second episode we will test the famous Sovietic Jupiter-9 Bokeh Monster 85mm/2 lens mixed with a M42 tilt Ring to Nex adapter on a Sony A7II
And answer to the question : How to get Bokeh Madness on video.
The Jupiter - 9 is famous for being a Bokeh Monster, it has the same swirly effect as the Helios Lenses but even stronger, being very close the the Petzval lens.
Then the lens was screwed to a M42 to Tilt Nex Adaptor ring then to the Sony A7II
Mixing a tilt ring who makes weird bokeh on any lens with a bokeh Monster will get you some amazing results.

The Lens is incredibly sharp for a 105 years old lady ... but it also gives some strange lens flares and light leaks that are pretty dreamy ( some would say it's horrible )

Azores video
I spent 2 weeks with my girlfriend in the Azores islands ( Pico, Sao Miguel, Sao Jorge) The Azores Islands are a small archipelago of nine islands off the coast of Portugal. Verdant and lush, the Azores offer many beautiful sites to see and interesting places to visit like the sapphire blue and emerald green lakes, fertile prairies, volcanic cones and craters, colorful hydrangeas and azaleas, 15th century churches, and majestic manor houses. We went there to walk, discover volcano caves and see whales ... sadly , i didn't saw any whales but i saw dolphins and flying fishes. This islands are so beautiful, so wild and so unique in the world, it was a wonderfull experience and 2 weeks was definitely not enough to see all. This video is a way to give you a short view on what you could see in the Azores islands.
It was shot with a Sony A7II and 35mm zeiss Lens color-graded in premiere cc with Impulz puts stabilized with a Beholder MS1 3 Axes Gimbal
Thanks to Sony France for their support and to My Girlfriend Mariel for her patience when i was shooting behind her like a spy.
